The solution must match the lens type
Cleaning and conditioning systems differ across RGP, soft and scleral lenses. An unsuitable product may cause deposits, irritation or lens-surface problems.
Saline for scleral lenses
Scleral lenses are filled before insertion with sterile, preservative-free saline suitable for the purpose. Filling saline does not replace daily cleaning and disinfection.
Avoid tap water
Do not use tap water on lenses or cases because of contamination risk. Replace the case regularly and allow it to dry hygienically according to the care-system instructions.
Insertion and removal tools
Special plungers can support scleral-lens handling, but they need cleaning and replacement when damaged. Practical handling training is an essential part of lens delivery.
